A sustainable cocoa and coffee future brought about by women and young people – that is what Rikolto is working towards. To bring about that future though, we have to create a space that allows women and young people to lead.

In our publication, we looked at seven gender and youth interventions across the globe and the positive effect they have had on local communities, as well as business as a whole. These interventions are not isolated success stories: they share patterns that have travelled across continents, commodities and cooperatives, with returns on investment robust enough to warrant scaling. What they now require is the willingness of buyer companies, financial institutions, governments and development partners to work in concert, so that the gains reach the many rather than the few.

‍

“Young people and women are a dynamic workforce with high potential for innovation, knowledge and technology adoption. They are not beneficiaries to be reached, but key drivers in sustainability and those most likely to carry the sector forward.”

Our publication contains useful findings and insights for development partners, public sector actors and private sector actors alike. If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
