Rikolto builds on track record of over 40 years in agricultural development in the region. In 2023, we reached 1,527 producers in Mali.

Currently, we are currently our Sustainable Rice programme.

Sustainable Rice programme highlights for 2023

The number of farmers trained to meet the SRP standard, produce bokashi compost to offset the high cost of fertiliser and produce certified seed, increased from 920 to 1,405. Their net income has almost tripled as a result of these initiatives. Significant efforts have been made to promote local organic PGS rice in the country: read about the results achieved in the story “A guarantee of local, sustainable and high-quality rice for Malian consumers”. PGS bio local was registered as an organic certification label by the Malian Centre for the Promotion of Industrial Ownership (CEMAPI) thanks to advocacy efforts in collaboration with Humundi and the Malian Association for Solidarity and Development (AMSD). A total of 112.5 tonnes of PGS rice, grown by 75 farmers supported by Rikolto, was successfully marketed in a market for organic and local produce launched in partnership with these organisations.
